Community Guidelines

Rowdy works because real crews trust each other with real dares. That trust is the whole product, so we protect it directly: Rowdy has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior, whether it shows up in a custom quest, a display name, a photo, or how someone treats a crewmate. This page is the specific list of what that means, and what happens if you cross it.

Two honest notes before the list. Rowdy hasn’t launched, so nobody has broken any of these yet. And the enforcement tooling isn’t all built — section 4 says exactly which parts exist today and which don’t, because a safety page that overstates its own machinery is worse than one that admits the gaps.

1. Zero tolerance, no exceptions

The following get content removed and accounts suspended or banned, on first offense if severe enough:

• Sexual content involving minors, in any form. This is reported to the relevant authorities, not just removed.
• Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeted humiliation of any person, in the app or as the substance of a dare.
• Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
• Nonconsensual sexual content, nonconsensual photography, or sharing someone’s private information without consent (doxxing).
• Content that encourages self-harm, violence, or illegal activity.
• Impersonating another person, or creating a fake account to harass or deceive.
• Spam, scams, or using Rowdy to advertise something unrelated to the game.

2. Dares have limits

Every dare in the deck is written by us and reviewed before it goes in. Letting a crew write their own is planned and not built — when it arrives it’ll be the part we watch closest, and these limits are the ones it will be held to. Whoever wrote it, a dare may not:

• Require anyone to do anything illegal, dangerous, or medically risky.
• Require or imply that the only way to complete it is to drink. No quest in Rowdy is valid on those terms — decline it, and tell us (section 4).
• Require removing clothing beyond normal swimwear-equivalent coverage, or any sexual act.
• Target a specific person outside the crew without their knowledge or consent.
• Require sharing anyone’s private information.

Every dare, no matter who wrote it, can be declined with no reason given and no consequence — that part is built and always available. If a dare crosses a line, decline it and then tell us: section 4 has the how.

3. Photos, when they arrive

The app can’t take or upload photos yet. Some quests are written to be proved with one, and the plan is that uploading is always optional and a photo stays visible only to the crew you played that night with — not posted publicly, not shown to anyone outside that night. The rule that will apply from the day it ships, and that already applies to the camera in your hand at a Rowdy night: taking or sharing a photo of someone without their knowledge, or passing a crew photo outside the crew without consent, is a guidelines violation.

4. Reporting and blocking — what exists today

Email is the channel. support@getrowdy.app reaches one inbox, read by the person who built the app. Tell us what happened and include a night or quest reference if you have one. That is a real human every time, because there is currently only one of us.

What isn’t built. There is no report button on a quest, photo, or profile yet, and blocking someone records your decision without yet preventing them being placed in a crew with you. Both are on the list before launch. We would rather write that down than let this page imply protection the code doesn’t provide.

We read every report and act on it by hand. Depending on severity, that ranges from removing a single piece of content to a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban. Severe violations — anything in Section 1 — skip straight to removal and ban review, no warning first. We’re not going to publish a response-time guarantee we can’t staff; what we’ll say is that anything involving someone’s safety gets looked at before anything else in the inbox.

5. Age and venue rules

Rowdy is 18+. Bar-context nights additionally require everyone in them to be 21+, checked by our servers for each person as they start or join one rather than taken on trust from the host’s phone. Whatever the setting, the same rule applies to every dare in the deck: never drink to complete a quest.

6. Enforcement

We’d rather warn a crew that’s pushing it than ban them, and we’d rather ban someone fast than let a pattern of abuse continue. In practice that means: minor, first-time issues usually get a warning and content removal; repeated or moderate violations get a temporary suspension; severe violations (Section 1) get an immediate, typically permanent, ban. All of that is done by hand today — there is no automated moderation and nothing is decided by a classifier. We keep a record of reports and actions taken so patterns across multiple nights or crews don’t slip through.

7. Appeals

If you think a report, removal, or ban was a mistake, email support@getrowdy.app with your account email and what happened. A human reviews every appeal.
